Sadly, women all over our province are being abused every day. If you are one of them, then Hope Haven Women's Shelter can give you the support, resources, shelter and counselling you need. Since 1991 we've provided a safe, supportive environment for women in abusive situations both with and without children.  We believe that you have the right to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion without judgement. We're the hope that you thought you'd lost. You can call us day or night - we're here to help.
We provide secure emergency accommodations - housing, food, clothing, medication and baby supplies - and emergency transportation to the shelter or out of the community if needed. Our counselors and referral services can help you get back on your feet. We also promote community awareness and prevention of violence in our society through our Lac La Biche Family Violence Program and educational presentations to schools, agencies and community groups.
Everyone has the right to live a life free of abuse. Let us help you. Call us anytime, day or night, at
780-623-3100 or toll-free at 1-866-331-3933. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. You can also find out general information about women's shelters in our province by visiting the Alberta Council of Women's Shelters.
Hope Haven Women's Shelter opened its doors in 1991 in a single family home that had been used previously as a day care facility. In 2004, we built our current facility to address the alarming number of women and children being turned away. The current shelter has 7 bedrooms and is licensed to house a maximum of 21 women and children.
Hope Haven is a well utilized, highly respected community resource that provides emergency shelter for women and children, in-house and community educational and outreach services.
In 2011, the Society built an addition to the current facility, adding additional programming space, and on the second floor - Lynne's House. Lynne's House is a second stage program that provides a continuum of services through supported, independent living for women and children who have been deemed high needs or high risk for lethality. It is an extended, longer term program (6 months - 1 year) housed in a secure facility.
