I think they live up to their title
- Hope Haven because coming from different situations, sometimes there’s no hope.. and then when a door opens like this, there’s amazing things women can do.

Sadly, women all over our province are being abused every day. If you are one of them, then Hope Haven Women's Shelter can give you the support, resources, shelter and counselling you need.

Since 1991 we've provided a safe, supportive environment for women in abusive situations both with and without children.  We believe that you have the right to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion without judgement. We're the hope that you thought you'd lost. You can call us day or night - we're here to help.

Hope Haven Women's Shelter began as a single family home that had been used previously as a day care facility. In 2004, we built our current facility to address the alarming number of women and children being turned away. The current shelter has 7 bedrooms and is licensed to house a maximum of 21 women and children.

Hope Haven is a well utilized, highly respected community resource that provides emergency shelter for women and children, in-house and community educational and outreach services.

In 2011, the Society built an addition to the current facility, adding additional programming space, and on the second floor - Lynne's House. Lynne's House is a second stage program that provides a continuum of services through supported, independent living for women and children who have been deemed high needs or high risk for lethality. It is an extended, longer term program (6 months - 1 year) housed in a secure facility. In 2017 we developed a Transitional Housing Program, Cassie’s Place, which houses families for up to 3 years and provides wrap-around supports.

Hope Haven is able to provide Trauma Informed care to our clients, thanks in part to the Government of Alberta’s Community Initiatives Program, which provided funding for Hope Haven to train staff and create a Trauma Informed environment for the families that we serve. Trauma Informed Care acknowledges that an individual is more likely than not to have experienced trauma and works with a focus on safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment.
