By the numbers - what exactly goes on at Hope Haven?

Since Hope Haven is a secure facility, a lot of people don't exactly know what goes on here. To help shed some light, here are some statistics from a recent year:
  • We maintained an average occupancy rate of 81%.
  • 130 women and 173 children were admited as residental clients.
  • The average length of stay was 15 days.
  • 58% of the women had children admitted with them.
  • The youngest client was 15 years old and was admitted as an adult with her infant child.
  • The oldest client was 74 years old.
  • Children ranged in age from newborn up to 18 years of age.
  • Our outreach program had 475 individual contacts who were given counselling, advocacy and support.
  • 1164 people attended our New Perspectives for Men program.
  • 901 people attended our New Perspectives for Women program.
  • 1942 people attended presentations in the community facilitated by Hope Haven.
  • 3 families were admitted to Lynne's House for longer term support. These families were high risk for lethality and/or high needs requiring wrap-around support.
  • Lynne's House clients stayed an average of 3 months and all moved on to independent housing.
As much as we love what we do, one day we hope that a women's shelter is no longer needed. Until then, we're here to help. If you'd like to help, please consider visiting our donation page . Thank you!

Welcome to our online journal!
